The determined unit of Perth Scorchers upset the smooth going Sydney Sixers who went down by a difference of 36 runs. It was the first defeat of the Big Bash League, 2014-15, for the latter side in four games but they are still placed on the top spot. On the other hand Sydney Thunder lost their second match of the event by a big margin of eight wickets against Melbourne Renegades. The first will take over Perth Scorchers next which is going to be an important fixture for both teams.
Players to watch
Marcus Harris was the highest scorer with 36 for Perth Scorchers vs. Sydney Sixers whereas none of their batsmen touched the twenty runs mark. Michael Klinger has scored most of the runs for his team but rest of their batsmen are required to shine. Andrew Tye, Matt Dixon, Yasir Arafat and Ashton Turner bowled well and grabbed two wickets each.
Daniel Hughes gave some respect to the total of Sydney Thunder against Melbourne Renegades by scoring 40 and Chris Hartley scored 23. Michael Hussey, Jacques Kallis, Eoin Morgan and Aiden Blizzard should be more consistent with the bat to earn victories for their team. Gurinder Sandhu, Dirk Nannes, Pat Cummins, Andrew McDonald and Nathan Hauritz are bowling reasonably well.

Pert Scorchers are tough team to bat against and this is their strength. Their bowlers are capable of strangling any potent batting line up. We have seen this in match against Sydney Sixers who were bowled out for just 99 chasing a below par target of 135. Scorchers batting lineup is not bad at all, they made 192 against Melbourne Renegades.
Sydney Thunder have won just 1 match so far and they are not looking too confident. They have very impressive batting lineup which includes Mike Hussey, Kallis and Morgan at the top order who are more than capable of taking away match against any bowling line up. We have already seen them scoring 208 against Brisbane Heat. However they failed against Melbourne Renegades and collapsed for just 114 and again failed to chase down 180 against Sydney Sixers. Having star lineup is not helping any team this year so far.
So on paper Perth Scorchers are looking strong. If they bat first and put up a score of 175+ then they are capable of defending it easily. This is their USP of winning habit. If they have to chase then it might get risky for them. If Thunder bat first and manage a high score above 180 then it will prove difficult for Perth to chase.
So here is the likely equation.
If Perth Scorchers bat first and score above par score then they are more likely to defend it. They can even defend low score if they can get those 3 stars out early.
If Thunder bat first then they have to score 160+ to defend it.
My

Wanted to add few more useful tips. If Perth can get trio of Mike Hussey, Kallis and Morgan out early then it would be safe to back then and make profit. It's applicable for either side of Thunder's innings batting first or chasing.
