Mumbai Indians |
vs | Kings XI Punjab |
ScheduleSaturday, 3 May 2014 at 10:30 GMT / 11:30 UK / 16:00 IST VenueWankhede Stadium, Mumbai |
The most ill fated and out of form team of the ongoing IPL 2014, Mumbai Indians, will face the mighty Kings XI Punjab, in their own yard at Wankhede Stadium. The Indian Premier League Champions of 2013, MI, lost all their five matches played in the United Arab Emirates whereas KXIP won all or their five with grace and command. The hosts will anticipate their maiden victory of the event but they need some miraculous performance from their players.
Kieron Pollard got back his form for MI as he hit 78 in the previous match vs. Sunrisers Hyderabad. Ambati Rayudu is batting well but they require big scores from their skipper, Rohit Sharma, and Corey Anderson. The bowling will revolve around Lasith Malinga, Zaheer Khan and Harbhajan Singh.
Glenn Maxwell has scored 300 runs in the event already while David Miller, Cheteshwar Pujara and Virender Sehwag are assisting him superbly. Lakshmipathy Balaji, Sandeep Sharma and Mitchell Johnson have evolved to a sensational bowling trio.

It would be hard to beat Mumbai Indians at their own backyard. Indian pitches are different than what they have been playing so far in dessert. Maxwell and Miller might not fund themselves at home playing against Bhajji and Malinga. Rohit Sharma can go ballistic and Pollard is almost at his best. KXIP might taste their first defeat at the home of Bollywood.
