Next Sunday, 31th August 2014, a rejuvenated Tottenham side will measure forces with Liverpool at White Hart Lane for the third round of the English Premier League.

After another convincing home win over AEL Limassol on the second leg of the UEFA Europa League playoff, Pochettino continued his splendid winning start with the Spurs and clinched a place at the group stage of the competition. The Argentinean manager has won all the official matches at the helm of Spurs so far and he clearly has a highly motivated group of players ready to cause Liverpool the second upset in just a week’s time.

Last weekend, the “new” Tottenham of Pochettino sponsored the return of Harry Redknapp to White Hart Lane carrying a categoric 4-0 win on a match where the Spurs’ players proved to be assimilating very all the ideas of their new manager quickly. The Spurs aren’t showing any signs of fatigue, although they have been playing twice a week lately, and they looked in control from the early moments of the match.

The Argentinean manager was granted a new player to strengthen his defence line as his fellow countryman Federico Fazio joined the team this week to compensate for the departure of the former captain, Michael Dawson, to Hull a few days ago.

For the match against Liverpool, Pochettino will still not be certain if he will have the Romanian centre back Vlad Chiriches at his disposal but he already knows that he won’t be able to count on Kyle Walker’s contribution since he is still sidelined due to injury.

As for Liverpool, the Reds are certainly still trying to digest last Monday’s defeat to Manchester City. Liverpool’s start of season has been far from impressive so far and, although they managed to defeat Southampton on the opening round, their performances was disappointing to a certain degree.

Brendan Rodgers was certainly not impressed by his team’s display against Liverpool and it starts to become obvious that Suárez’ departure had an huge impact in the team as their game looks lost, orphan of his strong presence and influence.

For the match against the Spurs, the Northern Irish manager will still not be able to rely on the contribution of Daniel Agger and Adam Lallana, both sidelined due to injury.

When both sides met at White Hart Lane last season, the visitors smashed the Spurs by 5-0 on a memorable match for the Reds’ supporters, as well as for the team. Notwithstanding, and judging by both teams recent displays, Tottenham are to be considered favourites for next Sunday’s match as they will surely try to avenge last season’s upset.
