Next Saturday, Parma will measure forces with Inter Milan at the emblematic Stadio Ennio Tardini for round 34 of the Italian Serie A on a match between two sides that are avidly battling for a place on the table that grants them UEFA international football next season.
Last weekend, Inter Milan grabbed an unexpectedly easy 4-0 victory against Sinisa Mihajlovic’s Sampdoria at Luigi Ferraris. The Milanese side scored first by Mauro Icardi, benefited from a missed penalty by Maxi López and saw Éder being sent off very early in the match, thus playing the remaining time against only ten Sampdoria men.
Inter was on a four match row without a single win and that fact was creating some instability in the team. However, last weekend’s win against Sampdoria might have a positive effect in the Nerazzurri and, with just five matches to go until the end of the season, that victory might catapult the team into a positive “season finale”.
For next Saturday’s clash, Inter’s manager - Walter Mazzarri - will probably not be able to count on the Brazilian defenders Jonathan and Juan Jesus, since both of them are currently sidelined due to injury.
As for Parma, the home side seems to be back on track after three consecutive defeats that followed the team’s golden period of seventeen matches without a single defeat. Last weekend, the Crociati didn’t manage to obtain anything better than a one goal draw at Bologna, against a side in danger of being relegated.
When playing at Ennio Tardini, Parma were only defeat twice this season. Only Juventus and Roma were able to break the Gialloblu’s defensive wall and the last time Parma was defeated at home was back in November.
For next weekend’s match, Roberto Donadoni is not yet certain if he is able to count on the Italian forward Nicola Pozzi and on the French midfielder Jonathan Biabiany, who are still recovering from their respective injuries.
When both sides met at San Siro back in December, the match ended in a spectacular 3-3, with goals from Palacio and Guarin for the home side and from Nicola Sansone and Parolo for the visitors. Although next Saturday’s match might also be a close one, Parma will enjoy a slight advantage if one analyses their consistency throughout the season, in contrast with Inter Milan’s constant ups and downs.
