Next Saturday, a highly motivated Celta de Vigo will travel to Comunidad Valenciana to face Valencia at Mestalla for the last round of Liga BBVA on a match where Los Celestes will certainly want to extend their recent fantastic run and add their fifth win in a row.
Last weekend, Celta de Vigo put up a vintage performance to defeat a heartless Real Madrid, which definitely buried their chances of claiming La Liga’s title at Galicia last Sunday. At the end of the match, Celta’s head coach (the Asturian born Luis Enrique) explained that his team took advantage of Real’s mistakes to win the match and lauded his players’ performances.
Last weekend, Celta’s Brazilian forward Charles replicated what Nolito did at El Sadar, since he was particularly inspired against Los Blancos as he clinched his team’s two goals.
Los Celestes are currently on a fantastic five match undefeated streak and they will certainly look to extend their run on what will be Luis Enrique’s last official match at the helm of the team.
For the Mestalla’s clash, Luis Enrique will not be able to count on the Spanish youth international right back Hugo Mallo, currently injured, and on the Brazilian forward Welliton, who was charged with a DUI last week.
As for Valencia, this last part of the season has been quite painful after the team’s elimination from the UEFA Europa League and because some underachieving performances at La Liga’s matches. In a recent interview, Valencia’s manager, Juan Antonio Pizzi, assumed full responsibility for the team’s bad season and highlighted Los Che’s difficulties in obtaining some of the objective that were set out at the beginning of the season.
Last weekend, Los Che failed to impress during their local derby against Levante as they sucumbed 2-0 at the hands of one of their greatest rivals.
For the match against Celta, Juan Antonio Pizzi will probably still not be able to rely on the Spanish defensive midfielder Oriol Romeu, who is currently on loan from Chelsea, due to injury.
When both sides measured forces at Los Balaídos back in January, Celta de Vigo won the match 2-1 thanks to two goals from the versatile Brazilian forward Charles. Next Saturday’s match will surely be very close as well, since both teams and their respective managers want to end the season in great style, although, by playing home, Valencia might be considered slightly favourite, even though Celta’s best moments this season have been away from Los Balaídos.
