Next Sunday, 5th of April 2015, the all-powerful Barcelona will travel to Galicia to measure forces with the always dangerous Celta de Vigo at Los Balaídos for round 29 of the Spanish Liga BBVA.
Barcelona consolidated their place at the top of La Liga’s table after beating their all-time rivals of Real Madrid at Camp Nou almost two weeks ago, on a match where the Blaugranas were not as impressive as on other occasions. In fact, it were the Blancos that were in control in the first-half of the match but they somehow failed to materialize their superiority. After the break, nevertheless, Barcelona returned stronger and took to take advantage of the constant mistakes Real’s defence and midfield lines committed. Los Merengues failed several passes while building their game from behind and that was probably crucial for their apparent impotence during the second-half of the match. As for Barça, they looked fairly more concentrated after the break and Luis Suarez' splendid goal gave them the necessary piece of mind they were looking for.
The upcoming match against Celta at Los Balaídos will certainly have a special taste for Barça’s manager, Luis Enrique, who was at the helm of Celta de Vigo last season, and at the same time will force the Catalan team to work really hard in order to leave Galicia with the three points in their bags.
As for Celta de Vigo, after their fantastic season start, which included an outstanding win at Camp Nou, the Galician team has embarked on a dark period with several consecutive defeats that inflicted a huge blow to the team’s motivation levels.
Eduardo “Toto” Berizzo managed, nevertheless, to rescue the team from such poor streak and slowly Celta has been returning to good performances at La Liga. On the last round, Los Celestes grabbed a vital win at the Comunidad Valenciana by beating Levante thanks to a single late goal from the versatile Brazilian forward, Charles.
After what happened at Camp Nou back in November, it is legitimate for Celta to believe that they are able to defeat Barcelona once again, but certainly this time it won’t be that “easy”. Given their recent positive period, the Catalan team are firm favourites for the upcoming match at Galicia.
