The Spanish media claimed today that the Brazilian international will met Luis Enrique and Andoni Zubizarreta next week in order to make his exit official. In a recent interview, Dani Alves did state that he was intending to stay at the club until the end of his contract (June 2015), nevertheless and judging by the media's recent reports, that is not going to happen.

It has been suggested recently that the Brazilian defender had been in talks with Paris Saint-Germain a few months ago, but that transfer rumour eventually died out.

Dani Alves arrived at Barcelona back in 2008 after spending six successful years with Sevilla. In fact, six might be Alves’ lucky number since it is the exact same amount years he has stayed at the Catalan team. The Brazilian right back was of vital importance to Pep Guardiola’s super Barcelona and he helped the club lift several important trophies, including two UEFA Champions League’s tournaments. Dani Alves never was a right back entirely committed to his defensive tasks; instead, he always had a huge influence on his team’s attacking movements, both by contributing with excellent crosses to box and by placing powerful and sometimes successful long shots.

The current moment might be the turning point on Dani Alves’s career, since, besides leaving Barcelona, his days at the Brazilian National Team are also probably over. Despite Scolari’s departure from the Canarinha, with whom Alves had a troubled relationship, it is not very likely that the current Barcelona’s number 22 will be part of “silent revolution” that Dunga will certainly perform at the team. Alves played almost 80 times for his country and he won two Confederations Cup tournaments and one Copa América.

Back in his day, Dani Alves was several times considered by the pundits as one of the most impressive right backs at European football, although, at the age of 31 and after a long and successful career in Spain, the Brazilian defender will certainly try something different at this stage of his footballer’s life and a move, whether to England or to the United States of America, might be upon the table waiting for his final decision.
