Next Monday, 26th of January 2015, a deeply fragilized Celta de Vigo will travel to the outskirts of Madrid to measure forces with a Getafe in need of points at Coliseum Alfonso Perez for round 20 of the Spanish Liga BBVA, on a match that the Galician team needs to win in order to put an end to their long streak of poor results and that the home side also needs to win since they are currently agonizingly close to the relegation zone.

After a moralizing home draw against Nuno Espirito Santo’s super Valencia and after an excellent and deserved win over Athletic at San Mamés, Celta de Vigo was defeated once again at the hands of Espanyol thanks to a late goal from the Equatorian international Felipe Caicedo.

The Galician team started the current campaign in great style and they were instantly labeled as one of the best teams in La Liga during the first two or three months of the new season. After a memorable win at Camp Nou against Barcelona, the world of Celta started to crumble. Los Celestes have not won a single league match after that remarkable night at Catalunya and some of their supporters are already questioning Eduardo Berizzo’s work. The Argentinean head coach and former Celta player have already tried everything to get his team back on tracks but so far, despite of some good performances, he have failed to achieve such thing.

Celta have been going through a very complicated moment and the clash against Los Azulones next Monday won’t be any easier. Los Celestes need the three points but on the other end they will find a team that is also starving for points and that also hasn’t been able to lift their heads after the departure of their former manager, Cosmin Contra.

For that particular match, Toto Berizzo will not be able to rely on the services of Hugo Mallo and Borja Oubina, who are both sidelined due to injury, and of Andreu Fontas that is currently suspended.

As for Getafe, the team from the outskirts of Madrid is also not going through a particular bright moment, as they have not won a single league match since last October. The departure of the Romanian head coach, Cosmin Contra, has only increased the team’s problems and now it is up to the experienced manager Quique Flores to rejuvenate the team and help them avoid relegation this season.

It is very difficult to name any favourites for next Monday’s clash and, given both sides’ recent performances, it is very likely that the match will end up in a draw.
