Next Sunday, 5th of April 2015, the current World and European champions, Real Madrid, will entertain a Granada craving for points at the splendorous Santiago Bernabeu for round 29 of the Spanish Liga BBVA.
There is no more room for mistakes for Real Madrid if they still want to dream about winning La Liga’s title. Their defeat at Camp Nou placed them on a very complicated situation and almost offered their arch-enemies, Barcelona, the league title on a silver tray. Carlo Ancelotti’s boys in fact started the match iat a good pace and were undoubtedly the best team during the first-half, but such apparent control was not enough and they ended up losing the important clash by 2-1.
There is something very wrong with Real Madrid. If we take a closer look at the team’s recent form, we will find that Los Blancos have only won one of their last five matches. It was in the middle of March when they entertained a fragile Levante side at Santiago Bernabeu and clinched an easy 2-0 win.
The super strong Real Madrid from before Christmas is now nowhere to be seen and pundits keep wondering what went wrong with that “super team” who, not so long ago, had everything in their grasp to win La Liga’s title.
As for Granada, the Andaluzia team are not having the time of their lives this season and are currently second from bottom, two points below the relegation line. The Nazaries have only won twice since the new year has started and not even the arrival of Abel Resino to helm of the team has served them to escape the pits of the relegation zone.
After a heavy defeat at Vallecas almost three weeks ago, Granada didn’t manage to get anything better than a draw from their last home match against Eibar. The trip to Santiago Bernabeu does not come at the best of times and Granada will need to put up something very special if they want to leave Madrid with at least one point in their bags.
Despite Real Madrid’s recent poor streak, the current World and European champions are firm favourites to win next weekend’s clash.
