Milos Raonic

Multi-lingual and multi-talented, Milos Raonic is the real deal just waiting to happen. Big, strong and powerful, Raonic instills fear in opponents and awe from spectators. He has become the most feared server in the game of tennis.

Currently ranked 7^th on tour, Raonic looks to be trending up the ladder. With a strong performance at Wimbledon, reaching the semis before succumbing to Wimbledon genius Roger Federer, and a good quarterfinal appearance on clay at Roland Garros, Raonic has elevated to the elite status. Milos is a player to watch at the US Open.

Raonic was homeschooled for tennis before being one of Canada’s first students at the productive National Training Centre in 2007. He prefers the hard court but has shown surprising effectiveness on clay in big matches. Players must man-up to his booming serve.

His tennis idol was Pete Sampras and he certainly has emulated the Sampras serve. Federer took Raonic to school and underscored the big Canadian’s inability to break serve. Indeed, it will be Raonic’s progress in returning serve that will determine his success at the US Open and his ability to crack into the sport’s top-four status. All the great players are a threat to break at any moment. Raonic is not quite there yet but his two-handed backhand has progressed nicely.

The addition of Ivan Ljubicic to his coaching team should help. Remember, Raonic was the ATP Newcomer of the Year in 2011 and Canada’s Male Athlete of the Year in 2012. Big things are expected!
