After destroying Arsenal over the weekend, Chelsea must now turn their attention to relegation battling Crystal Palace in the English Premier League. Though they may have absolutely ripped apart their direct title rivals, they have had occasions in this season when they have come up short against teams that are lower in the table, Aston Villa being a case in point. With Manchester City breathing down their necks and Liverpool in spectacular form, Chelsea have to ensure not to slip up and give away the advantage to their rivals. While Mourinho has had no trouble getting the team up for the big games, he will need to do the same magic against lowly placed teams, by making sure that his team doesn’t get complacent.

Easy 3 points for Chelsea?

Crystal Palace may not be in the bottom 3 at the moment, but they are far from safe when it comes to the relegation battle. In Tony Pulis, they have a manager who has done it before and if there was ever a man to help a team stay in the Premier League, it would be him. However, things don’t look too good for them at present. They were handed a lifeline during mid week when Sunderland played one of their games in hand, but could not get even a point off Liverpool. However, Sunderland still have one more game in hand, so it is imperative that Palace try and get as many points as possible in the remaining 7 games. But it won’t be easy against, even if they are playing at home.

3 points are very important for both teams, but it is almost a foregone conclusion that Chelsea will win this at a canter. But Palace can take heart from the fact that Aston Villa could nick 3 points off them. So, all is not completely lost yet. If they can ensure their defence is solid, Tony Pulis side can try and get in a goal. If nothing, they can at least look for a draw.

Crystal Palace still do not have their top scorer Marouane Chamakh, who’s been out with a hamstring injury. They were dealt another blow last week when Dwight Gayle suffered an ankle injury during training. With scoring goals already a problem for Palace, who have scored only once in the last 5 games, it is a further blow to their chances.

Chelsea, who lost Ashley Cole to injury in the game against Spurs, suffered another blow when they played Arsenal, with Samuel Eto’o injuring his hamstring. He is estimated to be out for 10 to 15 days, but Chelsea may not miss him too much, what with the midfielders finding their goal scoring form.

Head to Head
Crystal Palace and Chelsea have played each other for a total of 34 matches, of which Chelsea won 15. Palace has managed to win only 5 games, 4 of them which have come at home.

Prediction: Crystal Palace 0-3 Chelsea - Best odds 15/2 @ William Hill

Chelsea should be able to win this one comfortably, and Mourinho might even use his full complement of substitutes to give a run out to those who haven’t played that frequently.
