Next Saturday, 2nd of May 2015, the all-powerful Real Madrid will travel to Andalusia to measure forces with the UEFA Europa league holders, Sevilla, at the emblematic Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan for round 35 of the Spanish Liga BBVA.
After a very complicated and somewhat controversial win at Los Balaídos last Sunday, Real Madrid managed to grant the three points once again on Wednesday as they overcame Almeria at home by 3-0. A superb goal from the Colombian wonderboy James Rodriguez broke the deadlock just before the break and helped Real Madrid build a solid and deserved win over an opponent who is currently struggling against relegation.
Real Madrid’s recent performances have not been particularly brilliant, but somehow the team has managed to grant the three points.
The upcoming match at Andalusia will definitely be a very complicated one. Last season, Los Blancos sucumbed at Sanchez Pizjuan by 2-1 and seriously compromised their La Liga’s title aspirations on that particular match. In order to avoid the same thing from happening this term, Real Madrid will need to dig very deep in order to overcome a team that hasn’t been defeated at home since they lost to Barcelona last season.
As for Sevilla, they are once again having an excellent overall performance at La Liga this season. After securing a place in the UEFA Europa League semi-finals last week, Sevilla granted two consecutive league wins, the first one against Rayo Vallecano last weekend and another one over Eibar in the middle of the week. Sevilla are a very solid team when playing at home and they have not yet been defeated at Sanchez Pizjuan so far this season. Not even the all-powerful Barcelona managed to bend the powerful Sevillistas in their own stronghold earlier this month and the match ended in a 2-2 draw.
Although Real Madrid might be seen as favourites for the upcoming match, it will not be easy for them to defeat such a well organized and motivated team as Sevilla in their own house. For that reason, the match will probably end in a draw.
