|Novak Djokovic (SRB), 2||vs||Grigor Dimitrov (BUL), 12|
ScheduleFriday, 4 July 2014 at 12:00 GMT / 13:00 UK / 17:30 IST
Novak Djokovic (Serbia), 2nd on the ATP ranking list, is playing against Grigor Dimitrov (Bulgaria) who is 12th on the ATP ranking list, in the semi finals of the Wimbledon Men Singles Championship.
Novak Djokovic had a very tough match against Marin Cilic (Croatia) who was more than brilliant but he showed more persuasion, got back and went out victorious with a result of 3:2 (6:1, 3:6, 6:7(4), 6:2, 6:2). This was the 10th duel between these two great tennis players and it's amazing that Djokovic won all 10 times. They both had 10 aces, but Cilic made many more unforced errors (48:32), more double faults (3:6) and Djokovic was excellent on the first serve (70%). This is Djokovic's 5th time in the row to enter semi-finals on the Wimbledon Men Singles Championship and he will give his best to win this tournament for the second time in his career, ever since 2011 when he won against Rafael Nadal with result 3:1 (6:4, 6:1, 1:6, 6:3) and made his biggest dream come true.
As for Dimitrov, he made the greatest success in history of Bulgarian tennis since he is the first player from that country to reach the Wimbledon semi-finals. A young tennis player from Haskovo is for sure one of the greatest surprises on this year's Wimbledon Men Singles Championship, besides Nick Kyrgios who humiliated Rafael Nadal and after that was eliminated from Milos Raonic. Dimitrov had dethroned Andy Murray from Wimbledon by beating him in 3 sets (6:1, 7:6, 6:2) and did something which no one expected. Before Murray, on his way were Harrison, Saville, Dolgolopov and Mayer. It's interesting that he lost only 2 sets in this tournament and it was against Dolgolopov. Before reaching semi finals and the match with Novak Djokovic, this 23 year old Bulgarian's best result on Wimbledon Men Singles Championship was reaching the 2nd round of the tournament.
Novak Djokovic and Grigor Dimitrov played 4 matches against each other before Wimbledon semi finals. Djokovic won 3 times (2:0 in Shanghai 2012, 3:0 in French Open 2013 and 2:0 in Indian Wells 2013) and Dimitrov won only once on the Masters Series tournament in Madrid, Spain. Result was 2:1.
Novak Djokovic is one of the best tennis players and by many ex-tennis stars he is the best player that’s ever played. Dimitrov definitely doesn't have as much experience as Djokovic, but he will try to use every chance and every trick he has up his sleeve to beat Djokovic once again and reach his first grand-slam final, but Djokovic is the main favorite to win this match for sure.
