Next Saturday, 31st of October 2015, Eduardo Berizzo’s flaming Celta de Vigo will travel to the Basque Country to measure forces with Real Sociedad at Anoeta for Round 10 of the Spanish Liga BBVA.
Celta de Vigo’s undefeated streak came to an abrupt end last weekend after their defeat against the all-powerful Real Madrid at Los Balaídos. Los Celestes failed, in a way, to replicate their splendid performance from the clash against Barcelona and suffered a sour 3-1 defeat. Celta’s slow start cost them the three points and their defensive mistakes allowed Real Madrid to obtain a two goal lead before the half hour. Cristiano Ronaldo and Danilo were Celta’s executioners in the first-half of the match, but the one who prevented the Galician team from getting back into the game earlier was Real’s goalkeeper Keylor Navas. The Costa Rican netminder put up an almost vintage performance and only failed to stop Nolito’s superb scorcher from outside the box on the dying minutes of the match. Celta probably deserved more last time out, but “Toto” Berizzo has already rallied the troops for the upcoming difficult fixture at Anoeta.
Celta’s last win at San Sebastian was back in 1999 and last season the Vigo based team failed to get anything better than a 1-1 draw from the clash with David Moyes’ men.
Gustavo Cabral, who was sent-off against Real Madrid, and Augusto Fernandez, who collected another yellow card last time out, will miss his team’s travel to the Basque Country.
As for Real Sociedad, the Basque team is far from having a dream season start and find themselves in the 15th place of La Liga table with just nine points from nine matches. Last weekend, however, Real Sociedad managed to bounce back after two consecutive defeats and snatched a solid 4-0 win against Levante at the Comunidad Valenciana. The flamboyant Mexican forward Carlos Vela was the man of the match by netting two of his team’s four goals.
Granero and Navas will most certainly miss next Saturday’s clash against Celta de Vigo since they remain sidelined recovering from their respective injuries.
