Next Friday, 25th of September 2015, a fragilized Valencia will measure forces with Granada at the emblematic Mestalla Stadium for Round 6 of the Spanish Liga BBVA.
Things are not easy for Nuno Espirito Santo at Valencia this season. The Portuguese head coach, who was almost idolatrized last term, is now facing the generalized discontent of Valencia’s supporters after the team’s poor start so far this season.
Last week’s home defeat against FC Zenit for the UEFA Champions League left Valencia’s supporters infuriated with both their manager and with the Portuguese super agent Jorge Mendes, who they accuse of being the “Master of Puppets” of the club at the moment.
To make things worse for Nuno Espirito Santo, Los Che failed to win their last weekend’s home match against Real Betis, which ended in a goalless draw and conceded their first defeat of the season during their travel to Catalunya last Tuesday. Valencia succumbed at the hands of Espanyol by 1-0 and put up an overall poor performance that left, once again, their demanding supporters fairly unenchanted with the team.
The team’s most important goalkeepers, Diego Alves and Mathew Ryan, remain sidelined due to injury and will miss Valencia upcoming important clash with Granada.
As for Granada, the Andalusia team is also going through a particularly complicated moment as they were defeated in four of the five matches they have played so far this season.
After a narrow defeat at Santiago Bernabéu last weekend, where the Nazaries showed a remarkable determination and an outstanding commitment throughout the entire match, Granada were surprisingly defeated at home by David Moyes’ Real Sociedad last Tuesday. The Andalusia team lost the match by a staggering 3-0, especially because of a vintage performance by the Basque team’s centre forward, Imanol Agirretxe, who netted his side’s three goals.
Ruben Perez and the team’s vice-captain Piti are still recovering from their respective injuries and for that reason they will probably miss Granada’s travel to the Comunidad Valenciana next Friday.
