ScheduleSaturday, 20 December 2014 at 08:10 GMT / 08:10 UK / 13:40 IST
VenueMelbourne Cricket Ground
One of the strong looking batting sides of the Big Bash League, Melbourne Stars, surrendered easily against Adelaide Strikers in their first game and they should re-assess their weaknesses to stand firm on the table. They managed 148 runs for the loss of seven wickets and Adelaide Strikers reached the target by smashing 2-149 in 12.3 overs. Melbourne Stars will take over Hobart Hurricanes in their next game and will try to mend the early loss while the latter will be looking forward to get a positive result.
The old war horse Kevin Pietersen and Luke Wright were the only two batsmen of Melbourne Stars who entered the double figures by scoring 66 and 45 runs. Cameron White, Glenn Maxwell, David Hussey and James Faulkner are required to bat sensibly during the event. John Hastings was the only wicket taker with two but he needs support from Michael Beer, Jackson Bird and Clive Rose.
The batting line up of Hobart Hurricanes will revolve around George Bailey, Travis Birt, Alex Hales, Ben Dunk, Tim Paine and Michael Hill. Their composite bowling attack comprises Ben Hilfenhaus, Tim Paine, Xavier Doherty, Sam Rainbird and Jonathan Wells while Shoaib Mailk, Darren Sammy and Tim Bresnan are fine all-rounders.
