The seven One Day Internationals series between New Zealand and Sri Lanka stands even since they have grabbed one game each and the third one was destroyed because of rain. Play was possible for just 28.5 overs when the Black Caps reached 145 after losing three wickets under cloudy conditions. The hosts won the opening game by a margin of three wickets and the visitors came back by clinching the second one with a big difference of six wickets. The series is levelled at 1-1 and both sides will be fighting hard for their supremacy in the following match.
Martin Guptill, Tom Latham and Brendon McCullum scored 66, 28 and 42 runs in the previous game and they expect positive innings from Ross Taylor, Corey Anderson and Luke Ronchi. Their balanced bowling attack revolves around Matt Henry, Nathan McCullum, Daniel Vettori, Tim Southee and Mitchell McClenaghan.
Angelo Mathews grasped all three wickets which fell in the third ODI while Nuwan Kulasekara, Sachithra Senanayake, Dhammika Prasad and Thisara Perera are commendable bowlers of the Islanders. Tillakaratne Dilshan and Mahela Jayawardene have smashed hundred in the last two matches whereas rest of their batting is guarded by Kumar Sangakkara, Dimuth Karunaratne and Angelo Mathews.
Tuesday, January 20, 2015 @ 22:00 GMT (Previous day), 14:00 local at Saxton Oval, Nelson.
A mixed weather but there should be no problem for staging the game with the temperatures around 14-27ᵒC.
The captains of either side will most probably go for batting though Sri Lanka preferred to chase in the previous match due to overhead clouds.
A perfect outcome is expected from a balanced strip which will provide equal assistance for the batsmen and bowlers.
