Brondby vs Liverpool Prediction - Will The Reds Start Their New Season With A Win?

Next Wednesday, 16th July 2014, Liverpool will travel to Denmark to face Brondby at the Brondby Stadion on a match that will mark the kick-off of The Reds’ pre-season programme and that will also serve to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Danish club.

Without being able to count on the team’s international players who took part at the 2014 Brazil’s World Cup and without Luis Suárez, who traded Merseyside for Catalunya last week, Liverpool’s manager Brendan Rodgers started to prepare his team for the long season ahead earlier last week. Next Wednesday, The Reds will face Brondby, who finished fourth at the Danish Superliga last term, on a match that will essentially serve to take care of the players’ fitness levels and to help integrate some new arrivals, such as Emre Can, the Turkish descent German young talented midfielder that arrived from Bayer Leverkusen during the Summer. Emre Can left some good impressions during the team’s first training sessions in Melwood last week and Liverpool fans certainly have high expectations for this dynamic midfielder, who spent several years of his youth at the German superpower, Bayern Munich.

Brendan Rodgers will certainly also be happy to have Jose Enrique back in action and fully recovered from the injury that bothered him last season, which might in fact have cost him a place at Liverpool’s team this term. Apart from José Enrique’s return there are still some doubts concerning the future of some of Liverpool’s current players, such as Lucas Leiva and Iago Aspas. The Brazilian midfielder has been linked to several teams over the recent weeks and the media have suggested that he might be on his way to Napoli or even Inter Milan. Lucas seems to have lost some space at Brendan Rodgers’ team and his departure might, in fact, be the best solution for both sides. On the other hand, Aspas, who arrived at Anfield Road last season from Celta de Vigo, failed to impose himself at the Reds’ team and might be used as a “trading card” on Alberto Moreno’s alleged deal with Sevilla.

As for Brondby, the match against Liverpool will serve to commemorate their 50th anniversary and it will also be the team’s last preparation match before the start of the Danish Superliga. Thomas Frank’s team put up some interesting performances during their recent pre-season matches and they submitted Bolton Wanderers to a draw last Thursday. Brondby will start their Superliga’s campaign next weekend against Midtjylland and their clash against Liverpool might help increase the team’s motivation levels for a perfect start at the Danish league.
