Tottenham Hotspur are in a very confusing place right now. On the one hand, they would really want to try and finish in the Top 4 and qualify for the UEFA Champions League, but for that to happen, they would not only have to win all their games but also hope that both Everton and Arsenal have a drastic drop in form. On the other hand, qualifying for the Europa League is not exactly the greatest prize, considering the matches would be against not so glamorous teams and the payoff is quite less too, while there are too many matches. But nobody would want to willingly lose games either.
In contrast, Fulham know exactly what they need to do. They need all the points they can get to avoid the drop and they are 2 points behind 17th placed Norwich City. Facing Tottenham at White Hart Lane may not be the easiest thing to do, but Felix Magath’s team would know that Spurs are going through some tough times of their own, and could be ripe for the picking. If not all 3 points, Fulham certainly should aim to get at least one to help them in their quest for survival.
Tottenham have practically nothing to play for. Being 7 points behind Arsenal has not helped their cause of Champions League qualification, and the only thing they can realistically look at is trying to finish above Manchester United, who are 3 points behind them with a game in hand. Fulham would be the more motivated team of the two, and will perhaps try harder in trying to force the attacks and get the much needed goals. With Norwich playing a high flying Liverpool, Fulham know that they have the chance to overtake their relegation rivals and give themselves a bit of breathing space.
Injuries
Tottenham Hotspur have had to deal with a long injury list, with as many as 8 players out with some problem or the other. They have some good news though, with Demebele, Ranieri and Soldado all scheduled to be available for this weekend’s game. They will have fitness tests to see who’s ready, but it can be safely assumed that none of them will be given a start.
Fulham have 3 players out, with Woodrow and Duff out long term. However, there is good news in terms of Mitroglou, who is also scheduled to make a comeback this weekend.
Head to Head
Tottenham Hotspur and Fulham have played each other a total of 76 times, with Spurs having the upper hand notching up 38 wins. Fulham have only managed to win 13 of their games against Spurs with the rest ending in a stalemate.
Form
Tottenham Hotspur – DWLWL
Fulham – WWLLW
Prediction – Tottenham Hotspur 1-2 Fulham
Tottenham Hotspur have not been in the greatest form to pose an insurmountable threat to Fulham, who themselves have notched up 3 wins in their last 5 games, losing only to the likes of Everton and Manchester City. With motivation playing an important role in this match, Fulham might just edge this one to take all 3 points.
