Next Wednesday, 11th of March 2015, two super motivated teams, Chelsea and Paris SG, will measure forces at a predictably packed Stamford Bridge for the second-leg of the Last 16 stage of the UEFA Champions League. After the 1-1 draw at Parc des Princes, everything can happen on this second-leg match; nevertheless, Chelsea enjoy from a slight favouritism because they are playing at home and because they also have the narrow advantage they have brought from France.
Their win at the Capital One Cup Final last weekend has certainly offered Chelsea the necessary motivation to carry on the excellent campaign they are having this season. The Blues were far more consistent than the Spurs and granted a well deserved 2-0 win with goals from John Terry and some sort of an own goal from Kyle Walker, after a close range shot from the usual suspect Diego Costa.
As for the English Premier League, Chelsea sealed an excellent 1-0 win on their London derby against West Ham last week and cemented their position at the top of the table. A goal from the Belgian wonderboy Eden Hazard was enough to give José Mourinho’s boys the three points and to extend the Hammers recent misery at the EPL.
The upcoming match against Paris SG will most surely not be an easy one for the Blues. The French team are going through a very positive moment and will certainly try to avenge last season’s elimination. For that particular clash, the Portuguese manager will probably not be able to rely on the contribution of Nemanja Matic and Obi Mikel, who are both sidelined due to some injury problems.
Regarding Paris SG, the French team are on a fantastic row of matches without a single defeat and they will certainly want to extend such streak on their travel to Stamford Bridge.
Last weekend, PSG smashed a hopeless RC Lens at home by 4-1 with another top class performance from their brightest star Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The team from the French capital city are certainly hoping that the versatile Swedish forward will guide them to victory in London but José Mourinho knows Ibrahimovic pretty well and it is very likely that he knows how stop him from producing his magic.
For the Stamford Bridge clash, Laurent Blanc will most certainly not be able to rely on the contribution of Serge Aurier and Cabaye, who are both sidelined because of injury.
