A superb all-round performance by Andre Russell enabled Jamaica Tallawahs to qualify for the second semi-final of the Caribbean Premier League 2014, while beating Trinidad & Tobago Red Steel in the 1st semi-final. The first will face Guyana Amazon Warriors which was the no.2 team on the table and had already booked their berth for the top four. Chris Gayle will lead Jamaica Tallawahs while Denesh Ramdin will be marshalling the troops of Guyana Amazon Warriors and it will be an interesting battle between the two top teams.
Lendl Simmons and Martin Guptill were instrumental in the victory of Guyana Amazon Warriors in their last pool match against St Lucia Zouks. They shared a match winning opening partnership of 154 and contributed 97 and 66 runs respectively. Denesh Ramdin and Christopher Barnwell are other batsmen in form whereas Krishmar Santokie, Ronsford Beaton and Jimmy Neesham are bowling according to the plans.
Andre Russell played a hurricane unbeaten knock of 62 from 27 mere deliveries with 4 mighty sixes and 5 fours for Jamaica Tallawahs vs. Trinidad & Tobago Red Steel in the previous game. Nkrumah Bonner scored enough runs whereas Chris Gayle and Chadwick Walton are batting excellently. Rusty Theron is their top wicket taker well assisted by Jerome Taylor and Andre Russell.
