South Africa humiliated West Indies in the opening Test by a vast margin of an innings and 220 runs, leads the three match series at 1-0 and will anticipate same result in the remaining games. The hosts amassed 552 runs for the loss of half of their side in 140.3 overs when Hashim Amla declared their only innings. The Windies reached 201 in the first one and surrendered cheaply at 131 in the second innings. The Proteas are enjoying their supremacy at 1-0 and will look forward to achieve the same result in the next game while the Caribbeans should fight back to keep the series alive.

Players to watch

Hashim Amla blasted 208 runs, AB de Villiers and the debutant Stiaan van Zyl smashed 152 and unbeaten 101 respectively. Alviro Petersen, Dean Elgar, Faf du Plessis and Quinton de Kock are capable of scoring heavily. Dale Steyn displayed a fine fast bowling spell in the second innings and grabbed six wickets, Vernon Phiulander, Morne Morkel, and Kyle Abbot were impressive with the ball.

None of the batsmen of West Indies registered a fifty in both innings, Kraigg Brathwaite, Devon Smith, Leon Johnson and Marlon Samuels started off nicely but were unable to cross the thirty runs mark. Their top and middle order batsmen are required to concentrate while the bowling battery of Jerome Taylor, Sheldon Cottrell, Kemar Roach and Sulieman Benn should be more sharp and aggressive in their approach.

  1. This is a hopeless match for trading at BetfairBetfair. I don't see any profit making opportunity unless WI bat first and put a score in excess of 400 which will push SA's odds up towards 3-4 mark thus opening trade opportunities. In all circumstances avoid trading on this match.

  3. Bad decision by West Indians to bowl first after winning the toss. They are thinking to restrict SA which would be difficult for them. If SA end up with 500 score then WI will be on losing side again.

    • Draw or SA. This test match is completely screwed up and pissing me off. I manage to milk some profit out of it as SA odds touched sky and I took risk to back then out of nowhere they started to dominate and I greened up. Looks like it's heading towards draw.
