Next Saturday, 23rd of August 2014, José Mourinho’s new Chelsea will entertain Leicester at Stamford Bridge for the round two of the English Premier League.

Will Chelsea be able to continue their good moment against the Foxes?
Will Chelsea be able to continue their good moment against the Foxes?

Chelsea’s supporters have certainly enjoyed their team’s performance on their first match at EPL last Monday night as the Blues completely dominated Burnley at Turf Moor. Although the hosts scored first thanks to a great effort by Arfield early on the match, José Mourinho’s boys, led by the Spanish playmaker Cesc Fàbregas, managed to get back on track and built up a comfortable 3-1 win with a fairly interesting performance to go along with. The former Barcelona midfielder put up a vintage performance, being responsible for two goal assists and proving that probably a player like him would have made a world of difference at Chelsea’s midfield last season. Another new arrival that had a great official debut for the London Blues was Diego Costa. The Brazilian born Spanish forward scored his team’s first goal and left the impression that he will be the solution for Chelsea’s poor goal tab last term.

José Mourinho seems to have built a fairly stronger team this Summer and if they keep up with this work, Chelsea will certainly be a serious title contender, as the team looks much more confident when passing the ball around and certainly has plenty more raw material to work with than last season.

For the match against Leicester next Saturday, the Portuguese head coach will most likely have all his players at his disposal and quite probably he won’t produce any changes at his team.

As for Leicester, the visit to Stamford Bridge will probably be one their most complicated matches of the season. After snatching a late home draw against Everton over the weekend, the Foxes will have to be at their very best if they want to take something positive from their match against Chelsea. Leicester showed some interesting moments against the Toffees last weekend and they based their entire strategy in poisonous counter-attacks, something that might prove to be handy at Stamford Bridge next Saturday.

For the match against Chelsea, the Foxes’ manager, Nigel Pearson, will probably still not be able to count on the contribution of Matthew Upson, Jamie Vardy and Marc Albrighton, all sidelined due to injury.

The last time Leicester visited Stamford Bridge was back in 2012 for an FA Cup match, which they lost 5-2. Although in a completely different context, history might repeat itself next Saturday, if Chelsea manage, once again, to impose all their dominance as they did against Burnley on the first round of the competition.
