How far will José Mourinho take this new Chelsea?
How far will José Mourinho take this new Chelsea?

The “new” José Mourinho’s Chelsea seem to be very different from last season. The Portuguese manager has prepared this season quite thoroughly and the team clearly looks more confident and consistent than last term. Although it is still very early to make predictions, Chelsea are probably twice as strong now and the newcomers are already making a strong impact in the team’s overall performance. The Spanish playmaker Cesc Fàbregas, who arrived from Barcelona this Summer, is probably the man responsible for the creativity boost the team has been exhibiting and against Everton he clinched his fourth assist in just three matches.

Last weekend at Goodison Park, the Blues entered the match at full speed and although Everton showed some brave resistance, Chelsea ended the match with an incredible pace and annihilated the home side’s hopes in a blink of an eye.

For the match against the mighty Swans, José Mourinho is not yet certain if he will be able to count on the Brazilian born Spanish striker Diego Costa, who was withdrawn from his National Team and will miss the Euro 2016 Qualifying match against Macedonia next Monday because of a hamstring problem. The Chelsea’s boss will probably also not have the Belgian wonderkid Eden Hazard at his disposal, since he is still recovering from a recent injury and there are still major doubts surrounding his timely recovery for next Saturday’s match.

As for Swansea, their season start has certainly exceeded all the expectations that both the supporters and the pundits might have had, as they sealed nine points on the first three matches. Garry Monk has been doing a fantastic job with his team so far and some of the players who arrived during the Summer transfer window are also being fairly important for the team’s current good moment. The Swans are enjoying their best season start in 91 years but their manager, Garry Monk, wants his players to keep their feet on the ground and to continue the good work they have been doing so far. The Welsh team has only conceded one goal so far this season and their new goalkeeper, the Polish Lukasz Fabianski, is proving to be of major importance for the team’s defensive good performances so far.

For the match at Stamford Bridge, Garry Monk is not yet certain if he will be able to rely on Marvin Emnes and on Leon Britton, who are currently sidelined due to injury.

When both teams met at London last season, the Blues won by a narrow 1-0 thanks to a goal by Eden Hazard. Despite the Swans’ good streak, Chelsea are firm favourites to win the match as they look the strongest team of the English Premier League so far.
