Next Thursday, 16th of June 2016, a motivated Welsh team will measure force with their neighbours and rivals of England at Stade Bollaert-Delelis in Lens for their second match at Group B.
England have only themselves to blame for not being able to claw the three points against Russia last Saturday. Against an inconsistent opponent such as the Russians, England should have done better, especially back in defence, since they have conceded the equalizer in the last moments of the match. Roy Hodgson also has his share of guilt for taking Rooney out of the match with still 15 minutes to play before the final whistle. The Manchester United versatile forward was probably being the most important player in the team until that moment and England were in a way affected by his substitution.
England need to pull ranks if they want to claw the three points against Wales next Thursday and need to show plenty of more determination than what they did last time out.
For the upcoming clash, Roy Hodgson will have all his players at this disposal since, until now, there aren’t any names on the team’s injury list.
As for Wales, the Dragons started off on the right foot in the first European Champions of their history overcoming Slovakia by 2-1 last Saturday. An early goal by the team’s star Gareth Bale paved the way to a splendid win against a well organized side such as the Slovakians.
Wales’ manager Chris Coleman opted for a more conservative approach from minute one and allowed the opponents to have control of the ball possession, but in the end, the 46-year old manager’s plans worked just fine and Wales got the three points on their debut. Free agent Robson-Kanu netted the winning goal for the Welsh team on minute 81.
For the upcoming important match against their neighbours and rivals of England, Chris Coleman is not yet certain if he will be able to rely on the services of Wayne Hennessey and Ashley Williams, who are both recovering from minor injuries.
