Next Sunday, 22nd of February 2015, a fairly inconsistent AC Milan will measure forces with a Cesena in need for points at the emblematic San Siro for round 24 of the Italian Serie A. The Rossoneri are once again underachieving this season and they need to get it together if they still want to grant European football next term. As for Cesena, they will certainly try to extend their recent positive moment after having snatched an important draw against Juventus last weekend.

Will AC Milan be able to break their recent negative chain?
Will AC Milan be able to break their recent negative chain?

After their promising season start, AC Milan now appears to be sinking in mediocrity as the matches go by. The Milanese team are currently on the 11th place of the table with 30 points from 23 matches so far. The Rossoneri have only managed to win once since the beginning of the new year and that situation is certainly harming Filippo Inzaghi’s position at the helm of the team. Last weekend, AC Milan failed to get anything better than a draw on their home match against the rejuvenated Empoli that almost caused a major upset to the former European champions. The Rossoneri’s performance was once again far from impressive, as they may even consider themselves lucky to have gotten away with a point in their bags. The visitors had more ball possession and plenty of more chances to score and in the end it is fair to say that they were a bit unlucky.

For the upcoming fixture against Cesena, Filippo Inzaghi will not be able to rely on the services of the Spanish goalkeeper Diego Lopez, who is currently suspended after being sent off against Empoli last weekend. The former AC Milan sharpshooter will also not able to count on El Shaarawy, Abate, Mexes and Zapata, all currently sidelined due to injury.

As for Cesena, the Serie A newcomers are still struggling at the bottom of the table but their recent improvements are certainly giving their supporters some reasons to be hopeful for the rest of the season. The Seahorses’ draw, last weekend, against Juventus has certainly motivated the team for the matches to come and their next clash at San Siro could present a good opportunity for them to continue what they have started against the Vecchia Signora.

For the upcoming difficult clash against the Rossoneri, Domenico Di Carlo will probably still not be able to rely on the contribution of Valzania, Pulzetti and Cazzola, who are still recovering from their respective injuries.
