Next Saturday, 4th of October 2014, the former European champions, AC Milan, will measure forces with Chievo at the emblematic San Siro for round six of the Italian Serie A, on a match that the home side needs to win if they want to regain some of the confidence they lost after three consecutive games without a single win.

After another unexpected draw last weekend against Cesena, AC Milan extended their run without wins to three matches and the team has fallen to the sixth place of the Serie A table right behind their rivals and neighbours of Inter Milan.

The Rossoneri have controlled the entire match against Cesena last Sunday, nevertheless, their higher ball possession rate and their inumerous goal attempts weren’t enough to seal the deal.

AC Milan’s less positive moment started three weeks ago after their defeat against the Serie A current champions, Juventus, and the team has yet not managed to recover from that incident so far. Filippo Inzaghi’s dream start is slowly being transformed into a nightmare as the team only granted two points on their last three matches.

The match against Chievo next Saturday, will certainly be a golden opportunity for Inzaghi to rally his troops and to try to return to wins against a team that has only managed to win once this season.

For the clash against the Verona team, AC Milan’s boss will probably still not be able to rely on the contribution of the former Real Madrid’s goalkeeper Diego Lopez and from Marco Van Ginkel, both currently sidelined due to injury.

As for Chievo, the match against the Milanese team probably doesn’t come at the best of times with the team sinking on a poor streak of three games without a single win. After losing to Sampdoria in the middle of the week, Chievo failed to grant the three points once again over the weekend as they’ve conceded a home draw against Empoli. With just one win so far this season (an impressive one, by the way, against Napoli at San Paolo) Chievo are currently on the 15th place of the table and if they lose next Saturday, they could be in trouble, as they might fall to the relegation zone.

When both sides met at San Siro last term, the Milanese side won 3-0 thanks to two goals from Kaka and another from Balotelli. Despite their less positive recent streak, AC Milan are firm favourites for the next Saturday’s match.
