Next Monday, 8th of December 2014, the super Sampdoria of Sinisa Mihajlovic will travel to the Veneto Region to measure forces with Verona for round 14 of the Italian Serie A, a match during which the visitors will definitely try to snatch the three points after having failed to win the last three league matches they took part in.

How far can Sampdoria extend their excellent run?

Sampdoria have been doing a fantastic campaign so far but the lack of league wins recently is certainly worrying their fans. The historical Italian team failed to win their last three Serie A clashes but it is also true that they haven’t lost a match since October 29, which was, in fact, the only match they lost so far this season. The work that the former Serbian international Sinisa Mihajlovic has been conducting at the club is truly remarkable as he completely transformed a team that was drowned in numbness into one of the best Serie A sides over a relatively short period of time.

On last Monday’s match against Napoli at Luigi Ferraris, Sampdoria threw away a very good opportunity to clinch the three points, as they allowed the visitors, who were only playing with ten men after Koulibaly’s red card, to snatch the equalizer on injury time.

Three days later, though, Sampdoria managed to win a match again as they overcame Brescia for an Italian Cup match, thanks to goals by Gabbiadini and by the Argentinian journeyman Bergessio.

Next Monday’s match at Verona will certainly be a complicated test for Sampdoria, even though their opponents have proven to be fairly inconsistent this season. For that particular match, Mihajlovic is not yet certain if he will be able to rely on the contribution of Soriano and Vitis, who are still recovering from recent injury problems.

As for Verona, the Mastini are probably not going through the best of moments at Serie A right now, as they’ve failed to win their last seven league matches. Last weekend, Verona were overcame by Sassuolo, thus conceding their fifth defeat of the season so far and they are now on the 14th position of the table, dangerously close to the relegation zone.

For the demanding clash against Sampdoria next Monday night, the team’s manager Andrea Mandorlini is not yet sure if he will count on the contribution of Sala, Obbadi, and Jankovic, who are still sidelined due to injury.

Despite playing away from home, Sampdoria are favourites to win the match, but they will certainly need to work hard to grant the three points.
