Next Sunday, 10th of May 2015, UEFA Europa League holders, Sevilla, will travel to Galicia to measure forces with a well organized Celta de Vigo at Los Balaídos for round 36 of the Spanish Liga BBVA.
After a sour home defeat against Real Madrid last Saturday, Sevilla managed to bounce back and smashed Fiorentina for the first-leg of the UEFA Europa League semi-finals. The Sevillistas showed no mercy on the historical Italian team and claimed the match by 3-0 with an almost deluxe performance from Aleix Vidal, who contributed with two goals and one assist for his team’s rampant win. Sevilla allowed Fiorentina to take an apparent control of the match but constantly hit them with poisonous counter-attacks that caused mayhem in the Italian team’s defensive line.
With such an impressive win, Sevilla have almost granted a place in the tournament’s final, but before the second-leg match, they will have a complicated test at Los Balaídos. Last season, Sevilla succumbed at the hands of Luis Enrique’s Celta and the Andalusia team certainly does not want for history to repeat itself.
As for Celta, the Galician team is also going through a positive moment and not even last week’s draw at Almeria and the home defeat with Real Madrid is enough to blur that.
Toto Berizzo managed to continue and even improve the project Luis Enrique had started last season and Celta have achieved some impressive results so far this season. A win at Camp Nou and a 2-2 draw at Vicente Calderón are fairly good examples of that.
After an unfair home defeat against Real Madrid two weeks ago, Celta had everything in their favour during their match with Almeria last Monday, but allowed the Andalusia team to bounce back from a two goals’ disadvantage.
Celta are particularly strong when playing at home and for that reason it is fair to say that they have a slight favouritism for next Sunday’s match. Nevertheless, Sevilla are on an impressive streak, only tainted by their home defeat with Real Madrid, and are very capable of snatching the three points at Los Balaídos.
