Two sides representing same city with identical achievements in the ongoing Big Bash League, 2014-15, Melbourne Stars and Melbourne Renegades will fight for the second time in the event. Both teams collided on January 3rd at Docklands Stadium, Melbourne, where the former defeated the latter by a hefty margin of 112 runs. Melbourne Stars piled up 6-169 in the required 20 overs and dismissed Melbourne Renegades for 57 mere runs that was the lowest recorded total by a team in the tournament. Two teams have played five matches each in the event, lost three, they were successful twice and have attained four points each.
Players to watch
Kevin Pietersen powered his second fifty in the Big Bash League as Tom Triffitt, Cameron White and Glenn Maxwell contributed 25, 24 and 23 runs for Melbourne Stars vs. Sydney Sixers in the last game while Luke Wright and James Faulkner are capable of scoring brisk runs. Scott Boland and John Hastings claimed two wickets each, they are bowling superbly with Jackson Bird and Michael Beer.
Ben Stokes blasted 77 off 37 mere deliveries for Melbourne Renegades against Hobart Hurricanes, Callum Ferguson chipped in with 31 whereas Matthew Wade, Aaron Finch and Tom Cooper can make their presence feel in the remaining matches. Nicolas Winter was the star performer with three wickets, Shakib Al Hasan mad an impression by grabbing two while playing his first game well assisted by Peter Siddle and Fawad Ahmed.
