Next Saturday, the already coronated Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich will entertain Stuttgart at the Allianz Arena for the last round of the current campaign on a match where Der FCB will want to offer their fans a proper home display after being severely hammered by Real Madrid last week.
Pep Guardiola was heavily criticized after his side’s defeat at the hands of Real Madrid last week for the Champions League semi-finals’ second leg at the Allianz Arena. Nevertheless, the team managed to bounce back and built an easy win against Hamburger SV last Saturday, thus condemning the historical German side to spend the season to come at the Bundesliga 2.
Bayern Munich were under fire by the media last week after their Champions League defeat and Pep Guardiola’s game approach (and even his future at the club) was put into question. Notwithstanding, the team’s board stood up for the Spanish manager and expressed their full support to him and his work.
For next Saturday’s festive clash against Stuttgart (during which Bayern will celebrate once again their Bundesliga title in front of their fans), Pep Guardiola will not be able to count on Jerome Boateng, who was sent off last weekend, while Thiago Alcântara, Shaqiri, and Badstuber will also miss the match due to injury.
As for Stuttgart, the clash at the Allianz Arena next Saturday will only be for glory, since the Die Schwaben have already granted their presence at the German football top tier last weekend. Despite their home defeat against Wolfsburg, Stuttgart benefited from Hamburger SV’s home stumble against Bayern and “celebrated” their presence at Bundesliga next season. After a very poor and inconsistent season, Stuttgart will need to reconsider their recent options if they want to have a calmer campaign next term.
For the match against Bayern Munich, Huub Stevens is not yet certain if he will be able to rely on the midfielders Patrick Funk, Marco Rojas, and Sercan Sararer, all of them still recovering from their recent injuries.
When both sides met at the Mercedes-Benz Arena last January, the visitors grabbed a narrow 2-1 win thanks to goals from the Peruvian striker Claudio Pizarro and from Thiago Alcântara. Next Saturday, it is likely that the match ends in a goal galore for Bayern Munich, as they will want provide their fans with a solid goodbye display to end the 2013-14 season in style.
