Next Saturday, 1st of November 2014, the current German champions, Bayern Munich, will entertain the disappointing Borussia Dortmund at Allianz Arena for round ten of the Bundesliga, a match of paramount importance for the visitors who are currently experiencing a painful streak of six league matches without a single win and find themselves stuck at the 15th place of the league table with seven points from nine matches.

Six defeats in nine Bundesliga matches is the current record for the former European champions, Borussia Dortmund, who are surprisingly struggling at the bottom of the table, just one point above the relegation line. Jürgen Klopp’s boys are having the worst league start in decades and the players are having some difficulties to explain why this is happening to the team. One of the most important players of the team, the German international centre back Mats Hummels, told the media that, for some unknown reason, Dortmund keep losing their matches, even when their performances are by far superior to the ones of their opponents.

Last weekend, Dortmund entertained Hannover, who was also going through a very complicated period, at Westfalenstadion, and suffered their sixth defeat of the season, despite having been in control for large periods of the match. A Kyotake’s goal on the 61st minute inflicted a deadly blow to Dortmund’s already fragilized morale levels and the German Super Cup winners never found a way to, at least, grant the equalizer.

A match against the current German champions is probably not the desirable clash for Dortmund to stop their fatal wounds from bleeding, but at the same time, an hypothetical win at the expenses of their rivals, might offer them the motivation they need to initiate a strong comeback in the Bundesliga.

As for Bayern Munich, the current campaign at Bundesliga this season has been something fairly similar to a quiet walk in the park, with some minor scares here and there. The Bavarian team remains undefeated at the top of the table and they have only conceded two goals in the nine league matches they took part in so far, something fairly impressive, even for a team such as Bayern Munich.

After their rampant win at Stadio Olimpico over AS Roma in the middle of the week, Bayern failed to overcome a strong, moralized and also still undefeated Borussia Mönchengladbach at Borussia-Park last Sunday, on a match that ended in a goalless draw.

The current German champions are firm favourites for next Saturday’s big clash, although the matches between these two sides tend to be fairly unpredictable; thus, anything can happen on Allianz Arena’s match next weekend.
