Next Sunday, 22nd of March 2015, the all-powerful Bayern Munich will measure forces with the historical German side of Borussia Moenchengladbach at Allianz Arena for round 26 of the Bundesliga.
The unexpected defeat against Wolfsburg after the German league Winter break truly worked as an eye opener for the German champions, who from that match onwards have not lost a single clash, both on domestic and international competitions.
Last weekend, Pep Guardiola’s men defeated a fairly complicated opponent, Werder Bremen, who are a completely different team since Viktor Skrypnik took the helm of the team last October. Bayern showed no mercy on Werder Bremen and claimed the match by a categoric 4-0 victory with two goals from Lewandowski, one from Müller and another from David Alaba. Bayern’s staggering ball possession percentage prevented Werder Bremen’s from controlling the ball and doing what they usually do best, quick but elaborated attacking movements that tend to cause mayhem in the oppositions’ defence line.
The upcoming Bayern’s clash against Borussia Moenchengladbach will surely not be an easy one, especially if we have in mind the quality of the North Rhine-Westphalia team.
As for Die Borussen, they have been having a very positive stint so far this season and they currently occupy the third place of the table, behind Bayern Munich and Wolfsburg. Borussia Monchengladbach are currently on a good run of four consecutive matches without a single defeat and the last time they lost at Bundesliga was back in early February, when they sucumbed at the hands of Schalke 04 at Gelsenkirchen.
The elimination from the UEFA Europa League at the expenses of Sevilla was a harsh punishment for a team that probably deserved more on both matches against the Andalucia's team.
The match against Bayern is definitely not an easy one for Die Borussen to claim the three points, but if they managed to be at their best, they might cause some trouble to the all-powerful German champions.
Bayern Munich are undoubtedly firm favourites for next Sunday’s match and, although Borussia Moenchengladbach are a fairly good team, it is not likely that they will be able to disturb the Bavarian side's hegemony.
