Next Saturday, 9th of May 2015, a free falling AC Milan will entertain last season’s league runners-up, AS Roma, at the emblematic San Siro for round 35 of the Italian Serie A.
AC Milan’s recent poor streak of results will surely cost them a place at European football next season. The Milanese team has lost their last three league matches and are currently on the 10th place of the Serie A table.
After a good season start, AC Milan’s rocky fortress started to crumble and their young manager Filippo Inzaghi failed to found the way for solving all the team’s problems. On last weekend’s match at San Paolo, things could not have started in a worst manner for the Rossoneri, since the Italian international defender Mattia de Sciglio was sent off on the very first minute of the game after tripping Marek Hamsik inside the box. The Argentinean sharpshooter Gonzalo Higuain missed the penalty and AC Milan showed some great courage with only 10 men in the field for about 90 minutes of the match. The Milanese side has only succumbed on minute 70’, when Hamsik broke the deadlock and opened the score for Napoli.
Regardless of the team’s complicated moment, Pippo Inzaghi was assured that he will be maintaining his work position until the end of the season, as the AC Milan’s board reportedly believes that a managerial change at this stage of the campaign would not produce any major changes in the team’s overall performances.
As for AS Roma, the Lupi seem to be back on track after some unimpressive results recently. Their home win over Genoa has allowed them to regain the second place of the table, relegating their neighbours and rivals of Lazio to the third place. AS Roma had to work extra hard to overcome Genoa at Stadio Olimpico in Rome last weekend. The visitors put up a quality performance and had more ball possession than the Lupi, but two childish defensive mistakes helped both Doumbia and Florenzi offer the three points to AS Roma.
If we have in mind AC Milan’s recent poor performances and results and AS Roma’s apparent resurgence, we are forced to name the Lupi as firm favourites for next Saturday’s match at San Siro.
