Next Sunday, Elche will measure forces against Getafe at Martínez Valero for round 32 of Liga BBVA on a very a important match for both sides, both still threatened by relegation with seven games yet to play.

The home side - Elche - grabbed an important draw at El Madrigal last weekend against Villarreal and they are certainly looking at next Sunday’s match as a good opportunity to climb one or two places at the league table. After having defeated Celta de Vigo earlier this month (aided by a bit of luck), Elche have embarked on a five match row without a single win. However, the Valencian Community’s team hasn’t lost any home match since last December, when they sucumbed at the hands of Málaga, and they have been proving to be a very tough bone to chew when playing at the historical Martínez Valero.

For next Sunday’s match, the team head coach, Fran Escribá, will probably not be able to count on the Spanish midfielder Aaron Niguez and on the team’s captain Edu Albácar, both struggling with injuries.

As for Getafe, the team’s recent times have been far from easy. The departure of Luis García earlier last month brought a former footballer of the club to the helm of the team. The chosen one was Cosmin Contra, a former Romanian international, who enjoyed a very interesting career as a footballer and who is now experiencing his fourth year as a head coach. After a home draw against Granada, two defeats against Athletic and Villarreal, Contra’s Getafe left everyone stranded with their last weekend’s win at Mestalla against Valencia. The team seems to have regained some energy and they are looking to build up on the good moment during their trip to Elche.

Cosmin Contra will not have some important players available for next Sunday’s clash. The team’s usual goalkeeper Miguel Moya is out for the rest of the season, while Roberto Lago, Valera, Diego Castro, and Jaime Gavilan will certainly all miss the match due to injury.

When both teams met last November at Coliseum Alfonso Pérez, they shared the points, after a 1-1 draw with goals from Pedro León for the hosts and Boakye for the visitors.
