Will Diego Costa lead Atlético to another win against Levante next weekend?

After last weekend’s narrow win against Valencia at Mestalla, Atlético Madrid continued their successful march towards Liga BBVA’s title at full steam. At the end of the match, Diego Simeone claimed that his side was humble enough to withstand Valencia’s first thirty minutes pressure and managed to achieve another win thanks to a Raúl Garcia’s goal near the break. The Spanish midfielder told the media after the match that everything that is happening to Atlético this season is not pure luck but rather plenty of effort, work and determination from all the players.

Next weekend’s match against Levante will be another tough test for Atlético, despite the fact of the Granotes being currently not enjoying a very positive period at La Liga.

For next sunday’s match, Diego Simeone will not be able to count on the Spanish defender Juanfran, who was sent off against Valencia, but apart from him he will have all his squad at his disposal.

As for Levante, the match against Atlético Madrid probably doesn't come at the best of times. The Granotes have only won one of their last nine matches and their performances have also left something to be desired in a great deal of those clashes. Last weekend, Levante grabbed one point during their visit to their neighbours Elche and saw Rayo Vallecano “stealing” the ninth place of the table from them. At the end of the match, Levante’s head coach looked happy with the final outcome, probably to disguise some anxiety concerning the team’s lack of recent wins and also to send a positive message to the insideof his work group.

For the clash against Atlético, Joaquin Caparrós will still not be able to count on the skilled Austrian midfielder Andreas Ivanschitz, who has lost the team’s recent matches due to injury, and he is not yet certain if the Senegalese forward Baba will be fit for the game.

When both sides met at Vicente Calderón last December, the Colchoneros won 3-2 on what was a very close and well played match, only decided thanks to a goal from the usual suspect Diego Costa, from the penalty spot, in the last fifteen minutes of the match.
