Next Saturday, Levante will go head-to-head with a relegation threatened Getafe side at Estadi Ciutat de Valencia for round 34 of Liga BBVA on what promises to be a very close match between two sides that have been recently baffled by inconsistency.

Caparrós
Will Caparrós be able to rally the troops and led his side to victory after two consecutive defeats?

The home side Levante lost to Villarreal last weekend at the Comunidad Valenciana derby, thus suffering their second consecutive defeat at La Liga. Les Granotes are in fact experiencing a complicated moment as they have lost five of their last seven matches. With the battle between the bottom-of-the-table teams against relegation growing fiercer by the day, it might be important for Levante to win next Saturday’s match if they don’t want to withstand some last minute relegation problems, especially considering that there are still five matches to play until the end of the current campaign.

Levante lost their last match to their neighbours and rivals of Villarreal at the dying moments of the match and their head coach, Joaquín Caparrós, demanded some more concentration from his players in order to avoid future similar setbacks.

For next Saturday’s clash, the Andalusia-born manager will not be able to count on the Austrian talented midfielder Andreas Ivanschitz that is sidelined because of a recent injury.

As for Getafe, their current reality is far more complicated. The side from the outskirts of Madrid are third from bottom and last week were defeated at home by the league leaders Atlético Madrid. After their fantastic win at Mestalla three weeks ago, Getafe failed to win any single match and complicated their situation at the bottom of the table even further. Cosmin Contra, who criticized the referee’s performance at the end of last Madrid’s derby, will need to put up something very special in order to motivate his side for the remaining matches of the season if he wants to keep competing at La Liga next term.

For next Saturday’s clash, the former Romanian international is not yet certain if he will have the team’s captain Jaime Gavilán and the Spanish defender Sergio Escudero at his disposal since they are still recovering from their recent injuries. Lafita is suspended and Miguel Angel Moya is injured and will also miss Levante’s clash next Saturday.

When both teams measured forces at Coliseum Alfonso Pérez last November, Getafe grabbed an important 1-0 win thanks to a goal from the flamboyant midfielder Pedro León.

With both teams desperately looking for a win, next Saturday’s match will certainly be a very close one that will probably be decided by the individual effort of the most talented players of each team.
