Marcelino Toral’s Villarreal became familiar with the sour taste of defeat for first the time on their last round’s match against Barcelona at El Madrigal. The Yellow Submarine showed once again why they have been considered one of the most impressive teams at the Spanish football earlier this season and forced Barcelona to put in some extra elbow grease before they have managed to score and grant the three points, already very late in the match.

Marcelino Toral is doing a splendid job at Villarreal since he brought them back to the Spanish football top tier last season and so far the team is playing a fairly attractive game style, which has have already provided them with some excellent results both domestically and on an international level.

For the complicated visit to Los Cármenes, it is not likely that Marcelino Toral will implement several changes on his team, although he will probably not be able to rely on the contribution of Bojan Jokic, Hernán Pérez and Uche, since all of them are still recovering from their recent injuries.

As for Granada, the Andalusian team has been enjoying a fairly positive moment so far this season in opposition to what happened to them last term, where they had to battle hard until the end of the tournament in order to avoid relegation.

After defeating Deportivo La Coruña at home for their opening match, Granada granted a 1-1 draw at Elche last round, a draw that could have in fact be something more profitable for them, if Lombán hadn’t scored the equalizer in the dying moments of the match.

The new Granada’s head coach, Joaquin Caparrós, is probably one of the main culprits behind the Andalusian team’s good start, which is quite similar to what he had done with Levante and with some other teams during his already long managerial career.

For their match against Villarreal, Joaquin Caparrós is not yet certain if he will be able to rely on the contribution of the Gambian international Sulayman Marreh, who is currently sidelined due to injury.

When both sides met at Los Cármenes last season, the home side won 2-0 thanks to goals from Rico and El Arabi, during a dark and negative period for Villarreal. Although Granada are currently enjoying a good moment, the visitors are to be considered favourites for the next Sunday’s match.
