Next Tuesday, 20th of October 2015, a sometimes inconsistent Arsenal will measure forces with Pep Guardiola’s super Bayern Munich at the Emirates Stadium in London for the third match of the UEFA Champions League group stage.
There have been two different Arsenal teams so far this season, the one that smashed Manchester United 3-0 early this month, and the other one that was defeated at home by Olympiacos Piraeus and lost to GNK Dinamo at Zagreb for the UEFA Champions League.
The Gunners are currently on a good run of matches at the English Premier League with three consecutive wins from the last respective fixtures. The defeat at Stamford Bridge motivated Arsenal to put up a strong comeback and they have scored 11 goals in their last three league matches, three of them against the Red Devils.
On the other hand, Arsenal’s overall performances at the UEFA Champions League have been quite mediocre so far. A bland and apathetic display at Croatia cost them the three points against GNK Dinamo Zagreb and an uninspired defensive performance at the Emirates Stadium against Marco Silva’s Olympiacos inflicted them the second defeat in the tournament so far.
There is an urgent need for Arsenal to claim the three points against Bayern Munich next Tuesday, but that might prove to be an almost impossible task if we have in mind the German champions’ current overall moment and their last two visits to London, where they had no major problems in overcoming the Gunners.
As for Bayern Munich, the current German champions are once again having a dream season start with nine wins over the respective amount of matches and have already a seven point gap to their closest contenders, Borussia Dortmund.
Pep Guardiola’s men have won all their competitive matches so far this season and there is a strong possibility for them to extend their fantastic run when they visit the Emirates Stadium next Tuesday.
In their previous Champions League matches, Bayern Munich overcame relatively easily both Olympiacos in Greece and GNK Dinamo Zagreb at the Allianz Arena later last September.
