Next Wednesday, 25th of November 2015, Manchester City, who are still in shock after last weekend’s defeat, will travel to Turin to measure forces with Juventus for the fifth match of the UEFA Champions League Group Stage.
Manchester City’s supporters are certainly still trying to understand what happened to their team last Saturday. The Citizens were hammered 4-1 at home by Liverpool and put up a somewhat miserable performance, especially in the first 30 minutes of the match. Liverpool, on the other hand, took advantage from the home side poor defensive organization, and lead by the Brazilian duo Coutinho and Firmino spread misery across The Sky Blues back line.
Manchester City dropped to the third place of the Premier League table and are now behind the surprising Leicester City, who are the current EPL leaders, and one point behind their neighbours and rivals of Manchester United, who defeated Watford last time out.
The Citizens, who have already booked a place in the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League, will surely need to dig very deep in order to bring a positive result from their travel to Turin next Wednesday, especially if we bear in mind how good Juventus played when they visited the Etihad Stadium back in the middle of September. For that predictably complicated match, Manchester City’s boss, Manuel Pellegrini, will not be able to count on the services of Wilfried Bony and Samir Nasri, who are both currently sidelined due to injury.
As for Juventus, the Vecchia Signora are not having the best of starts at Serie A so far this season and currently occupy the sixth place of the table with 21 points from 13 matches.
Last weekend, Juventus overcame AC Milan on the clash of the titans at Turin thanks to a lonely goal from the Argentinean forward Paulo Dybala in the second-half of the match.
Juventus are still undefeated at the UEFA Champions League so far this season and if they manage to overcome Manchester City in their next outing, they will not only grant their place at the last 16 stage, but they will also change places with the English side at the top of their group.
Sami Khedira and Roberto Pereyra, who are currently recovering from their respective injuries, will not be part of Massimiliano Allegri’s plans for next Wednesday’s match.
