Next Tuesday, 3rd of November 2015, an extremely motivated Manchester City will travel to Andalusia to measure forces with Sevilla FC at Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan for the fourth match of the UEFA Champions League Group Stage.
Sevilla FC are definitely not having the best of starts at Liga BBVA and they currently occupy the 11th place of the table with just 12 points from ten matches played so far. Last weekend, the Andalusian team conceded the fourth defeat of the season during their travel to El Madrigal to meet one of their closest contenders, Villarreal CF. Unai Emery’s men failed to cope with the home side’s attacking game and ended up losing 2-1. Fernando Llorente put Sevilla back in the game on minute 76’, but the Andalusia were already down to 10 men, and never found the way to level the score.
Los Sevillistas are nothing but a shadow of what they were last season and although they have already managed to put up some interesting performances (as for example, their solid display at the Etihad Stadium two weeks ago), they have not yet found the consistency needed for such demanding competitions as La Liga and the UEFA Champions League.
Portuguese anchor man, Daniel Carriço, and the flamboyant striker Kevin Gameiro are currently injured and will most certainly not be part of Unai Emery’s plans next time out.
As for Manchester City, after last season’s ups and downs, the Citizens seem to be fairly more inspired this term and they are currently at the top of the English Premier League with the same points of Arsenal.
After hammering Crystal Palace for the Capital One Cup in the middle of the week, Manchester City had to dig very deep in order to overcome a mighty Norwich City FC that resisted until the dying moments of the match at the Etihad Stadium. A Yaya Touré’s goal from the penalty spot on the 89th minute allowed City to secure their eighth win of the season and even to increase the point gap to their all-time rivals of Manchester United and to Slaven Bilic’s West Ham, who succumbed at Watford last Saturday.
Sergio Aguero, Fabian Delph, Gael Clichy, David Silva and Samir Nasri are all currently sidelined due to injury and will most certainly not be part of Manuel Pellegrini’s plans for the Citizens next outing.
