In a battle of proud challengers, watch the fireworks. You might wonder who is favored; the three seed or the seven seed. In their 15 previous matches, Murray has won nine times. However, in their four previous clay court contests, Ferrer has won all four, but none since 2012.
Both players are better today than they were in 2012. For the sake of the semifinals, it might be better if Murray wins because Ferrer has tough sledding against either Nadal or Djoko. Murray was a semifinalist here last year although he is clearly more effective on grass and hard surfaces. Yet, we think he has the stamina and game to offset the crafty Spaniard in four.
