Bordeaux are in dire need of victory as they prepare to play host to an in-form Monaco side at Matmut Atlantique this Sunday evening.
Les Girondins would be looking to put the disappointment of their defeat at the hands of struggling Ajaccio side last week behind them as they look ahead towards their game against AS Monaco at home. The hosts suffered a disappointing defeat last week that has left them in the bottom half of the table at 14th position. They have 14 points in 12 games with just 3 wins to their name to date. 5 of their games have ended in a draw while Bordeaux failed to collect any point in 4 of their Ligue 1 games.
The hosts are coming in this game with short on confidence as things are not looking good for them at the moment. They have just one win and three losses in their last 5 games in all competition and their inconsistent form this season has got manger, Willy Sagnol really worried. The coach has however backed his players to turn their season around and is urging the players to get a positive result against a side like AS Monaco as such victory will really boost players’ morale and it will send out a message to the rest of the teams in the league that Les Girondins mean business and they are back to their best.
AS Monaco on the other hand have finally found some consistency following a rather slow start to the season that has resulted in Monaco sitting 6th in the table. The Principality side should be challenging Paris Saint-Germain for the title given the quality of players they have at their disposal. The likes Moutinho, Carvalho and El Shaarawy have yet to show their full potential this season but coach, Leonardo Jardim is adamant that his star players will come good sooner rather than later and the game against a struggling Bordeaux side could very well be the turning point the boss is looking for.
Bernando Silva has been the higher score for the visitors this season with three goals to his name which tells the situation at the club. If your youngster is scoring the most goals for you, that means that your start strikers are misfiring and Monaco cannot compete at the top unless their misfiring starts find their shooting boots soon.
