PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN vs AS SAINT-ETIENNE
Defending Champions and League leaders take on 4th placed Saint-Etienne on Sunday in what promises to be a nail biting encounter between the two in-from sides.
Paris Saint-Germain are the only team in the Ligue 1 this season that has not been defeated. Les Parisiens are currently at the top of the table with 26 points out of a possible 30, winning 8 games while drawing two in the process at the end of gameweek 10. Up next are Saint-Etienne, who have performed well this season and are sitting 4th in the league standing.
In the last game of gameweek 11 of the 2015-16 French top flight, PSG will be looking to extend their unbeaten run to eleven games and looking at their form in previous games, it would not be a bad idea to bet on the reigning champions to collect all three points at the weekend, especially considering the fact that they will be playing at their home stadium, Parc des Princes. Laurent Blanc’s side are coming in this game on the back of an impressive run of form that has seen the club collect victories in all of their last five games, which also includes a Champions League win over Shakhtar Donetsk, which PSG comfortably won 3-0 away from home. Both Edison Cavani and Zlatan Ibrahimovic have scored 6 goals apiece for PSG this season.
AS Saint-Etienne on the other hand, have plenty of factors going their way giving them a sense of optimism ahead of the Sunday showdown. After some disappointing games over the past few weeks, Les Verts returned to winning ways last week as they thrashed GFC Ajaccio 3-0 at home. The visitors have collected 19 points from 10 games this season, 7 less than their upcoming Ligue 1 opponents. They have won 6 of their matches while ending up on the losing side three times.
The major worry for coach, Christophe Galtier, has been the lack of goals from his players this time around. Apart from Loic Perrin, who has scored three times for ASSE this season, no other Saint-Etienne player has score more than 2 goals. Les Verts have scored 13 times this season but they have also conceded 10 goals in the process giving them a goal difference of just +3. The visitors need to shore up their defence if they want to get something out of the game on Sunday. Otherwise the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Edison Cavani, Angel Di Maria and Lucas Moura will not spare their shaky defence.
