Stade de Reims take on the Principality side at Stade Auguste Delaune in the first game to be played on Sunday this week with just one point separating the two teams.
Olivier Guégan’s side take on AS Monaco which could very well be a potential six pointer between the two sides faring in mid table. Reims have notched up 15 points out of a possible 30 and are currently 8th in the league standings at the end of gameweek 10. This could all change on Sunday when Monaco travel to the Champagne region, sitting on 10th position with 14 points to their name, one less than their Sunday’s opponents.
Stade de Reims have started the season well, barring some inconsistent performances and bad results. They have won 4 of their games this season while drawing 3 and losing 3. Despite scoring 14 times this season, their failure to prevent other teams from scoring against them has cost them dearly as they have conceded 12 times already in this period, earning them a goal difference of mere +2. Reims faced back to back defeats in their last two games and the bosses at the club would be hoping to put an end to their poor form on Sunday when they play host to Monaco.
Monaco are currently 10th in the league and have only three wins in the bag sofar. Although they have lost only twice this season, 5 of their games have ended in draws, making it tough for them to collect maximum points. Departure of their top scorer from last season, Anthony Martial to Manchester United has also hampered their preparations this season but with the quality of players they have at their disposal, Les Monégasques should be doing much better than they have this season.
AS Monaco have won just one of their last five games and they are coming in this game on the back of four draws, including a home game against English Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur, in the Europa League. The fact that Monaco are playing in the Europa League as well, has somewhat made it a little difficult for Leonardo Jardim’s side to concentrate fully on their league form. However, if Monaco are to move up the table, they will not get a better chance than Sunday’s game. With just one point separating the two teams, AS Monaco can win the game and move to 6th place after gameweek 11, provided other results go their way.
