Next Saturday, 15th of August 2015, the former European champions, Borussia Dortmund, will entertain the super organized Borussia Moenchengladbach at Signal Iduna Park for round 1 of the Bundesliga.
The departure of the charismatic Jürgen Klopp at the end of last season marked the beginning of a new chapter in the history of Borussia Dortmund. Their new manager, Thomas Tuchel, did a quality job with FSV Mainz 05 during their last six years and he has now the task of reigniting the flame that Dortmund seem to have lost over the last couple of years.
The “new” Dortmund had an almost flawless pre-season campaign having only lost one of the ten matches they took part in. Those fixtures include two UEFA Europa League qualifying matches and a DFB-Pokal clash against Chemnitzer last weekend. Thomas Tuchel implemented some changes in the team’s tactical system and have also altered Dortmund’s attacking and defensive processes. Borussia’s game appears to be highly mechanized, with the team already displaying high rates of ball possession and creating a great deal of scoring chances.
The Swiss goalkeeper, Roman Bürki, from SC Freiburg, was probably Dortmund’s most important signing of the summer and he will certainly turn out to be a very important asset for a team that experienced some problems with their netminder last season.
When Borussia Moenchengladbach visited Signal Iduna Park last season, the match ended in a narrow win for the home side, thanks to a weird own goal by Kramer in the second-half.
As for Borussia Monchengladbach, the historical German side have also had an excellent pre-season campaign, where they were only defeated once at the hands of Hamburger SV at the Telekom Cup early in July.
Last Monday night, Die Borussen experienced no difficulty in overcoming St.Pauli at the DFB-Pokal 1/32 finals, winning the match by 4-1 with two goals from Lars Stindl, one from Ibrahima Traoré and another from Thorgan Hazard.
Borussia Monchengladbach are going through a very positive moment and the game intensity they currently display is already quite considerable for this stage of the season.
