Next Saturday, 22nd of August 2015, the all-powerful Bayern Munich will travel to Baden-Württemberg to measure forces with Hoffenheim at Rhein-Neckar-Arena for round 2 of the Bundesliga.
The current German champions started the new season at full steam by smashing an extremely fragile Hamburger SV at Allianz Arena by 5-0. Benatia opened the score on the 26th minute, heading home a quality free-kick from Xabi Alonso, but that was the best Bayern managed to do before half-time. Things, however, changed after the break, especially thanks to Lewandowski’s goal on the 52nd minute, that annihilated all of Hamburger SV’s faint hopes of getting back into the game. From that moment onwards, it was a walk in the park for Pep Guardiola’s men, who managed to score three more goals before the final whistle.
Bayern defeated the third tier historical side Dynamo Dresden for a charity match at the former GDR city, thus extending their winning streak to five matches.
After the defeat for the German Super Cup with Wolfsburg, Bayern got instantly back on their feet and are now producing some impressive quick paced attacking football.
Their upcoming clash at Hoffenheim will probably not be easy, but if we have in mind that Bayern won the last three matches at the Rhein-Neckar-Arena, we should not expect a different outcome for next Saturday’s clash.
As for Hoffenheim, Die Kraichgauer started last weekend’s match at Bayer Leverkusen in great style, netting an early goal and producing several additional chances to score. Nevertheless, a goal from the German international Kiessling just before the break had a nephasth effect on the team, and Hoffenheim ended up losing the match by 2-1.
After being eliminated from the DFB Pokal by Munich 1860 and after last weekend’s defeat, Hoffenheim are desperately looking for their first official win of the season, but next Saturday’s opponent is probably not the best one for them to start their recovery.
Adam Szalai is currently sidelined due to injury and it is not yet certain if he will recover in time for next Saturday’s clash with Bayern.
