High flying SM Caen take on FC Nantes at Stade Michel d'Ornano coming Friday in the first match of Gameweek 11 of the 2015-16 Ligue 1 campaign.
SM Caen have enjoyed a great start to the season and are currently sitting comfortably at the podium in third place. With 10 games under their belt, Patrice Garande’s men have notched up 21 points out of a possible 30 and things are looking really good for the newly promoted side. Caen will next take on 12th placed FC Nantes at home and the type of form they are in, nothing but another three points will satisfy the players and the bosses at the club.
The hosts are unbeaten in their last three league games and they are coming in this game on the back of a hard fought 1-0 win away from home at the expense of Stade de Reims. Surprisingly, none of Caen’s games has ended in a draw this season with 7 wins and 3 defeats at the end of Gameweek 10. Hence it would not be wise to bet on the hosts settling for a draw when they lock horns with FC Nantes at home this Friday.
FC Nantes on the other hand, have picked themselves up following a rather slow start to the season. They are currently 12th in the league with 13 points on the table after playing 9 games so far. With 4 wins and four losses, Nantes can still move up the table especially considering the fact that they have a game in hand. However, lack of firepower upfront has been a cause of concern for the coach. Apart from Yacine Bammou, who has two goals to his name in Ligue 1 this season, no other Nantes player has managed to score more than one goal.
It seems like Michel Der Zakarian has now settled onto his preferred starting eleven after experimenting in the earlier stages of the campaign. And that has resulted in his side picking up positive results in the end. Nantes will be in high spirits when they travel to Caen this Friday as they are coming in this game on the back of two impressive wins in the league. After snatching a narrow win over Lille on the road, Nantes thrashed ESTAC Troyes 3-0 at home last week. And the bosses at the club would be looking for more of the same from their side this Friday. However, getting something out of the game against an in-form and highly motivated Caen side would be a tough task.
