Next Saturday, 10th September 2016, an uninspired Atlético Madrid will visit Galicia to measure forces with Celta de Vigo at Los Balaídos for Round 3 of La Liga Santander.

Atlético Madrid are experiencing an extremely slow league start after getting nothing better than two draws in their first two matches of the season. The 1-1 draw at Vicente Calderón against La Liga newcomers Deportivo Alavés have left the Colchoneros licking their wounds and last round’s goalless draw in their local derby against CD Leganés have definitely increased such underachieving feeling.

Several players, including the French versatile forward Antoine Griezmann, expressed their concerns on the team’s recent poor performances and the head coach, Diego Simeone, is now forced to rally the troops in order to claw a positive result from the always complicated visit to Los Balaídos next weekend.

Experienced goalkeeper Miguel Angel Moya and Alessio Cerci are still recovering from long term injuries and will miss next weekend’s visit to Galicia.

As for Celta de Vigo, the Galician outfit have also started the new season off on the wrong foot failing to win their first two league matches. A home defeat against the debutants CD Leganés was definitely not the best way to start the new campaign, but Celta de Vigo have managed to pull ranks and pulled off an extremely solid performance at Santiago Bernabéu last time out.

Despite having been defeated by 2-1, Celta de Vigo have plenty of reasons to complain about Real Madrid’s first goal, that should have been disallowed by the referee.

For the upcoming clash against Atlético Madrid, Eduardo Berizzo will still not be able to rely on the services of Ruben Blanco, Claudio Beauvue and Carles Planas, who remain sidelined due to long term injuries. Chilean defensive midfielder Marcelo Diaz is recovering from a muscle injury and is in doubt out there.
