Next Sunday, 28th August 2016, Sevilla will visit the Comunidad Valenciana to measure forces with Villarreal at El Madrigal for the Round 2 of the Spanish La Liga Santander.

After losing both the European and the Spanish Super Cup to Real Madrid and Barcelona respectively, Sevilla had a fantastic La Liga start, overcoming Espanyol at Ramón Sánchez Pizjuan by 6-4. The Andalusia team had to dig very deep in order to claw the three points on their first league, but in the end, they have fully deserved their win. New head coach Jorge Sampaoli probably didn’t have the best of starts in competitive matches for Sevilla, but last round’s win over Espanyol will certainly help the team to improve in the upcoming matches.

Vitolo and Escudero are doubts for next Sunday’s visit to El Madrigal, while Danish midfielder Michael Krohn-Dehli will definitely miss out there due to a long term knee injury.

As for Villarreal, they are not going through the best of times and last Wednesday’s defeat against AS Monaco will surely have an extremely negative impact in the team.

The Submarino Amarillo failed to grant access to the UEFA Champions League group stage and are yet to win a competitive match after the arrival of their new head coach, Fran Escribá. The somewhat unexpected departure of Marcelino Toral has left an empty void at the club that the new boss still hasn't been able to bridge.

The upcoming match against Sevilla is of the utmost importance for Villarreal, specially after last round’s draw against Granada. Bakambu, Bonera, Cheryshev, Jonathan dos Santos and Roberto Soldado will all miss out there due to injury and, for that reason, Fran Escribá will need once again to pull something special out of his sleeve, in order to claw a positive result from the complicated match against Sevilla.
